Finish
hard books.
Ideas explained. Scenes drawn. Nothing spoiled.
Tap a word. Ask about a line. See the scene come to life. Manara reads with you, only as far as your page.
See the scene
in your mind
Every book builds a world. Pick a passage and Manara draws it: the place, the light, the people in it, from what the book has actually said.
Faces stay the same from chapter to chapter, because the app keeps track of the cast as the book describes them. Not how you pictured it? Direct the scene and ask for another take.
A few pages. Whole worlds.Scroll to explore

Answers come from the pages behind you, never the ones ahead. “Not yet” is an honest answer here, and you will hear it long before you hear a spoiler.
Ask anything
as you read
Ask what a passage is getting at, why a character did that, or who someone is again. The answer opens beside the page, with the passage it’s about right above it.
Select a passage, or nothing at all. The conversation is still there when you come back.
Understand
every. word.
Tap a word or a phrase to see what it means in this sentence, in plainer words than the word itself.
Not a dictionary’s list of senses. Just the one the author meant, right where you are. The words you look up come back for a short review, spaced out so they stay.
Stay in the story,
in any language
Reading in your second language? Translate a passage and read the two side by side, in any of 22 languages, without losing your place.
Keep the lines
that matter
Highlights, questions, translations, bookmarks and scenes are kept together, book by book.
Back after a few weeks away? The story so far tells you what has happened, who matters, and what is still open, up to your page and no further.
A proper reader, first
The app is a book, and the help stays quiet until you want it. You can read a whole session without touching any of it.
Pick up exactly where you left off
Your minutes against a daily goal, your streak, your scenes, and the book you were in the middle of.
Your books, or ours
Bring your own EPUBs and PDFs, or start with one of 36 classics already on the shelf.
Pages like paper
Pages that turn like paper, or scroll if you prefer. Your own type, size, spacing and margins, in Paper, Sand, Sepia or a true-black Night.
A daily goal, a streak, a reminder at the time you pick, and widgets for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Once the hard books open up, you finish more of them.
iPhone and iPad
Sign in and your place, highlights and notebook follow you between them.
Reads offline
Your books live on your device. The help needs a connection; the reading never does.
Three steps, then just read
Open a book
One of your own EPUBs or PDFs, or a classic from the shelf.
Read as you always do
Nothing interrupts the page. Manara knows how far you’ve got, and stops there.
Tap, ask or imagine
When something needs explaining, it’s one touch away, and it never reads ahead.
Try it on a third
of every book
Manara’s help covers the first third of every book, free. A subscription opens the rest. The books themselves are always yours to read.
Good things to ask
Can I download Manara now?
Yes. Manara is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and it’s free to start. The Android version is coming to Google Play soon; it isn’t available to download yet.
Can it really not spoil the book?
Manara answers only from the pages you’ve already read. Your furthest page is a hard line, and nothing past it is used, not even when you say you’ve read the book before. If the answer is further on, you’ll hear “not yet”.
Which books can I read?
Any EPUB or PDF you own, plus 36 classics that come with the app.
Is it a study tool?
No. It won’t summarise a book so you can skip it. It’s for reading the book, with help when a word, a name or a scene needs it.
How many languages can it translate into?
22, shown side by side with the original so you never lose the author’s words.
Does it work offline?
Your books do. Asking, defining, translating and imagining need a connection.
What does it cost?
It’s free to start: the help covers the first third of every book. A subscription opens the rest.
