The agreement between you and Manara. We have tried to write it so that you can read it.
The short version. By using Manara you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. The books you import stay yours, and you must have the right to read them. Translations, definitions, answers and pictures are made by AI models and can be wrong, so check anything that matters against the text. Subscriptions and picture packs are billed and refunded by Apple, and you cancel them in your App Store settings. Do not misuse the service or work around its limits. You can delete your account at any time, and we may close an account that breaches these terms.
These terms are a contract between you and Manara ("Manara", "we", "us"), an independently operated app run from the United Arab Emirates. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you do not, do not use Manara.
Our Privacy Policy is part of this agreement.
You must be at least 13 years old, or 16 in countries where that is the applicable age of digital consent, and you must not be barred from using the service under the laws that apply to you. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.
You are responsible for the email address or Apple or Google account you sign in with, and for activity under your account. Sign-in codes are single-use and short-lived; do not forward them. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access.
One account is for one person. Do not share credentials.
Manara does not run a bookstore. You bring your own EPUB and PDF files, and the app also offers a small catalog of public-domain classics.
You keep ownership of everything you import. The responsibility comes with it. By importing a book you confirm you own a lawful copy, or otherwise have the right to read and process it. Do not import files you have no right to. If a rights holder tells us a file infringes their rights, we may remove it, and for repeat infringement we may close the account.
Your library is private. Manara does not publish, share or redistribute the books you import, and no other reader can access them.
To operate the app for you, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, transmit and process the books and text you provide, and to send the relevant parts to the AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy, for the sole purpose of delivering the features you use.
This licence exists only so we can run the service for you, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. It does not let us publish your content, sell it, or use it to build anything that is not about serving you.
Translations, definitions, answers, summaries and generated images come out of machine learning models. They are often useful and sometimes confidently wrong. A model can misread a passage or invent a detail that is not in your book, and a picture can show a scene the author never described.
Do not rely on Manara's output where accuracy matters. That covers legal, medical, financial, academic, religious and safety decisions, and any professional translation. Check anything that has consequences against the source text.
Generated images are interpretations of text, not depictions of real people or events. Model providers apply their own safety filters, so some passages will not produce an image; when that happens no credit is spent.
You may use output from the app for your own personal reading. You are responsible for what you do with it beyond that.

We apply usage limits to keep the service affordable. Deliberately working around them is a breach of these terms.
Manara offers a free trial, paid subscriptions, and picture packs. All billing is handled by the Apple App Store, under Apple's terms and payment methods. We never receive your card details.
Generated images are counted against a picture allowance included with your plan. Unused allowance does not carry over between periods unless we say otherwise. Pictures from a picture pack do not expire and are used only once your plan's allowance runs out. Neither has any cash value.
The Manara app, its name, its mark, its design and its software are ours and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. These terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app. They grant you nothing else.
We aim to keep Manara running but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature materially, or shut the service down, we will give reasonable notice. If you have paid for a period you can no longer use, ask Apple for a refund: purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds are Apple's to give. Write to us and we will support your request.
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in More → Account → Delete account. That erases your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Cancel any subscription separately through the App Store.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to close, or that is causing harm to the service or to other readers. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Manara is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty as to the accuracy or reliability of AI-generated output.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here affects the statutory consumer rights you have where you live.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost opportunity, arising from your use of Manara.
Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or to any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings there.
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. For material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect; continuing to use Manara afterwards means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, delete your account.
